I got an Eheim Classic 600 filter yesterday and wanted to set it up last night. There aren't very detailed instructions, and it doesnt mention anything about the media placement. I have what looks like Biomax, a harder blue sponge type of substance, a softer white wool? pad the carbon pad, and a giant bag of what looks like little ceramic balls I think is the ehfisubstrate they advertise. I looked up online and people have said the filter comes with a sticker telling you how much of what to put into the filter but mine didnt have it.

I was thinking of going Blue Sponge, floss, biomax, ehfisubtrate but I dont know if the floss should be at the top or not.

Thanks for the picture, seems weird that it wants the biomax first while in my Aquaclears the sponge is first to stop any large debris from going through the filter. Now I just wonder why the instructions never mention cutting the hose to connect the filter to the shut off valves

Edit: I understand about the sponge now after seeing it has a reverse water system that goes through the filter twice before going into the biomax

actually the water goes down a tube, then back up through the media.
so the water goes thorough the media only once. but through the length of the filter, twice.

if you have Eheim media. the rings are not biomax, they are mechanical, not biological, filtration.
they are smooth and none pours.

the beads in the next trays are the Bio media.
