I'm setting up my 10G tank and would like to grow plants in it. I have a 13W fluorescent light over it, and may consider changing the light in the future, but for now I just want a low tech setup to start. As this is my first planted tank, I have so many questions!
1. What kind of substrate would be good? I've always had gravel, but am considering sand because of its looks.
2. Will I need fertilizer if I will not have super lighting and CO2?
3. Other than the LFS, are there any reputable places online to buy plants? I don't have any friends that are into aquariums so I cannot "borrow" clippings!
I do not have the tank set up yet; I want to gather as much info as possible before doing the planted cycle as posted in this forum. Once I get it going I will post some pictures so you can help me scape, since my skills in this area is pretty limited. Thanks everybody!
