Due to unforseen circumstances, I've decided to set up a 10 gallon cory tank. My 3 leopard cories have had their barbels worn to little stubs. I'm not sure if it was due to the small gravel in my community 10 gallon. It could also have been my 2 very big, very pregnant female livebearers who have developed a voracious appetite for sinking tablets. Whatever the reason, I want my corys to have a tank all to themselves. Currently, they are set up in a small 5.5 gallon hospital tank. I did used to have 4 leopard cories but my eldest one recently died. : ( Very upsetting.

Was able to find a local pool supply store where i picked up some pool filter sand for about $12. I was happy to find out the brand was Lighthouse, which had been recommended by someone on this forum.

So today, I spent a good hour constantly rinsing the sand. After I put a good amount in the tank today, the water got very cloudy. I have a sponge filter and an internal whisper filter running, so hopefully the water will clear up very soon. For a while, I'll be keeping plastic plants in there, but over time I hope to use real ones after I get a fluorescent light hood. Still have a lot of work to do.
