Hey all,
So i have an old 1 gallon tank sitting around taking up space. I have a bunch of dwarf red lily bulbs but i am not sure if or how to propgate them? Also i have a bunch of aptongen plants that i want to also propagate but unsure how. Obviously i am gonna use this tank to grow more plants for my tank. Also would water from a water/gravel vac be better since it has nutrients the plants use? I have fert tabs as well should crush those and add them as well? One last question, i have some old spot gro flourescent light hanging around, would it help if i were to set it up above the tank instead of using the little small incadescent bulb?? thanks for your help and sorry about the long post :good:

Drew

p.s. what kind of substrate should i use?

Errr...you'd probably end up with mostly algae if you throw all that in there.

Just use conditioned tap water. For bulbs you don't need special substrate but a fert tab wouldn't hurt. No need to crush it. You could use sand for substrate or whatever you have around, as long as it isn't too large. With the fert tabs it isn't too important to have nutrient rich substrate.

It would help to have some water circulation. Does this tank have a filter?

Depending on exactly what the fluorescent light is like, it is probably better than an incandescent. How old is the bulb and what type is it? For growing house plants?

As far as how to grow the bulbs, you just throw them in.

You might as well just put them in your regular tank, though.
