i have a spare 36"x15"x18" tank and was hoping to stock mbuna fish.i was thinking of using play sand and limestone with crushed coral in the filter.
can anyone give me advice on what and how many fish to stock.
thanks.

IMO mbuna need a minimum of a 4ft tank, they are simply too aggressive and territorial for anything smaller. The only exception I would make to that is pseudotropheus demasoni.

So, for your tank I would suggest either setting up a p.demasoni species tank (12-15 would be a good number), or you could go with some of the smaller cichlids from Lake Tanganikya.
