Serpea Tetras What Else?

Hi i brought 5 little serpea tetras yesterday and was wondering what else to put in with them.My tank is 2ftx1ftx1ft,I would like some lemon tetras and maybe a main 'attraction'.Also my serpea tetras are nipped quite abit but my lfs said its a sign of 'good fish',is this true?

there are many similar species that you can add to your tank... I don't think that nipped-fins are a sign of a "good fish" however.

o ok, thankyou,Im stuck on either going with 5 lemon tetras or 5-7 gold stripe rasboras.

Serpae tetras are commonly found with nipped fins because they can be very nippy among themselves. The nippiness doesn't normally go outside of their group unless housed with similar tetras.

I would suggest about 3 khuli loaches. They wont take up much space (may never see them) but when they come out to play you wont be dissapointed.

10 cms long but they are very thin and wont really take up any space i would recomend these amusing fish to anyone mine are all dancing up and down as i speak.They rarerly come out in the day but at night its fascinating watching them swim they are also the freindlyiest fish i have come across.If you see any buy them!

2ftx1ftx1ft translates into roughly 60 x 30 x 30 = 54 litres.
I would add some bottomdwellers (cories are great, and very active), and maybe an upperlayer fish (honey gouramis or another small gourami). I personally think that 1 shoal fish is enough, and lemons would be another shoal.

The nipping might be between each other; watch it closely, and if it continues, I suggest you add a few more to divert the agression.
I have a shoal of serpeas and I keep them with cories and gouramis; very nice and active fish!
