:( My new syno is causing trouble within the original group and, as a result there are injuries. The other 4 aren't happy and Beattie (my biggest female) is the worst off with the skin scrapped off either side of her beautiful top fin and lesser scrapes alsewhere.
They're all still eating but this beast is somewhat of a bully. I will move him to another tank but it's still smegging cycling and nitrItes is dangerously high (fishless of course) in it so still unusable.
I do have some other tanks but the 35 has 3 young small synos and I don't want them being targeted either. The other tanks are the 15 and 2 betta tanks. Can I put him in any (albeit far too small) just for a small amount of time until the bigger tank is ready for him? He's quite big and likes to swim but if I put him in the 15 for the maximum of a week would it do him any harm? :/ I just can't watch him constantly pick on the others and love him a great deal too much to part with.
Hugs,
P.

I think i personaly would either put him in a smaller tank (long as its not mindnumbing small, like a pint glass or something) or another option might be to ask lfs if they will babysit it for few days to a week for you?? :dunno:

Actually I spoke to my lfs about the problem and they said put him in the 15g. I did and it was disasterous. :-( He got so worked up with the lack of space that he jumped into the jewel filter!!! It's almost impossible to get in there in any way but he jumped in. I happened to go check on him and pull him out fast. Then took him and his rock cave (He refused to leave it so I had to transport him in the cave in water back to the 55g. He's now utterly stressed out and hiding in a fake bamboo tube thing and not coming out. I can't even see him now.
I feel so bad. I would ask the lfs to babysit him but the idea of him going in a tank with some of theirs does not appeal. He'll freak.
He is rather temperamental y'see.
I couldn't see any damage caused by his escape attempt or fish suicide attempt and hope to all that he's ok.

P.

I have had problems in the past when putting a synodontis angelicus in a tank with another syno(eupterus)....They fought really badly, and there were injuries to both.
I thought that they would settle down, each establishing their own territories, but I had to give up on that idea and permanantly separate them.
I now only keep one large syno per tank.
My petricolas are in a group of 3 and my upside down cats are in a group of 4 but they are only small compared with my 2 angelicus and syno eupterus.
Good Luck with your dilemma.x.

Well once the other tank is readt the angelicus will move into it and leave the 4 other synos to themselves. These 4 are fine together with no troubles. He is the only problem.
Happily he's fine after yesterdays incidents. Turns out angelicus species are known to be bullies. Pity I wasn't told that before and I'd certainly not heard of it or read it either anywhere. He does swim about like a mini shark wannabe.
As for Beattie and her injuries, she seems ok but it looks not very nice, bless her. :( Can only hope he behaves a few more days until I can get him shifted. :sly:
