I've recently had one of my fish that I bought last weekend die from what, as far as I can tell, was septecemia. Unfortunately I don't have a quaruntine tank so they all went straight in. The other two (and my other fish) seem to be normal and healthy, are they at risk from catching the disease? Would they be showing symptons by now (after 7 days)?

N.B. I based the diagnosis on the following symptons:

Small red spots (under close inspection)
Lethargic (not lazy / shy as I first thought)
Loss of motor control

Tank conditions are stable on 0 Amonia and Nitrite so I am assuming that the fish first picked this up at the shop.

:rip:

Not sure. One of my bettas had it, he got better after a salt bath and a dose of anti internal bacteria meds.

I have added some general stuff (Interpet General Tonic) but am very wary of adding salt with Clown Loaches in the tank.

Other fish should be ok, just do a few daily water change, sorry for the one your lost.R.I.P..

Thanks Wilder, did a regular water change yesterday, about 25%. Too late tonight, but will do some for the next few days.

Not sure who I am more angry at the moment, the shop for selling me an ill fish or me for not having a quaruntine tank.

She was a beautiful little fish as well. :/

Been caught out myself for being to lazy to set my quarantine tank up, and could kick my self, when my plecs had internal parasites.

Well the other fish are still looking good, water change has been done and anti-bacterial medication has been added. Will be doing 10% changed tuesday, wednesday, thursday, 20% on friday followed by a 50% dose of the medication and then back to the normal water change schedule from sunday. Fingers crossed this will prevent any further casualties and is definitely the kick I needed to get a quaruntine / hospital tank set up.

Thanks for the help Wilder, it's much appreciated.

Good luck, hope the tank soon gets back to normal.
