A week ago i added a Crown Tail to my 60L tank with 8 guppies. I was then advised by you good people out there that this wasnt the best scenario, even though so far there has been no trouble (going through my longest spell without losing a fish..woo hoo). Im going to take the good advice and i have purchased a new tank for the Betta so he can be all by alone (might give him a mirror as he loves himself) ,i think segragating him in the current tank is cruel, he will have plenty of room in the new 30L Tank all by himself. My questions are
1. Would a small tank reared Angel Fish be appropriate in with the guppies.
2. I have always wanted a red tailed shark, will he attack the guppies.
3. Whats my limit in terms of fish now, im assuming 4 more largish fish would be enough.

All advice welcome!

1. I'd say that 60litres will not be big enough for an angel fish when it grows.
2. I know very little about sharks, but they are quite active - not sure if there is enough space for one (or more) in terms of swimming room.
3. Depends on what other fish you're considering!

I'd say a separate tank for the betta is a great idea and will make both the original and new tanks far nicer for both you and the fish.

Ive seen wild Angel Fish grow to the size of my hand but i was told that tank reared angels will stay quite small..?

No, most angles grow quiet big.
Your tank is about 7 US gallons, and thats not very big.
Maybe a few corys with your betta?

Thanks Ethos for the "yours is not that big" remark........i hope my wife isnt reading this?

a. Angel fish will grow too big for that tank, angel fish can also be quite nippy and may attack the guppys.
b. RTBS can get very terotorial and agressive as they mature and are too big for your tank- they will get to 5inchs+ and will need a 30gal.
c. 30litres is about 5gals while 60lites is about 10gals i believe, either way though your 60litre tank is already pretty much stocked with 8guppys.
d. Its good you are researching your stocking before you buy fish but you will realy need a bigger community tank is you are thinking about buying anymore fish- you could perhaps have a couple of small peaceful shrimp or pygmy corys or maybe an oto in either of the tanks but thats about it.
