Ok. So my tank is 20 gallons, ph is 7.0-7.2 ammonia is low to non existant even after 2 days of fish in it, nitrate levels are 5.0, nitrite is 0.25.

We are feeding all the fish in the tank a mixture of food; slow sinking pellets, flake food, and frozen brine shrimp.

I've been trying to get the cory's feeding on the flakes and pellets already before I put in the frozen food to keep them out of the way so the glassies can feed in peace. Whilst one is coming out, the others are still too timid to come out for food. The outgoing one, Caspar, is fine. He amuses himself and is fine with eating all the types of food. The other two, from what I know, have not eaten yet since we got them tuesday morning.

I'm concerned because we've tried everything and it jsut seems like the cory's are eating it all after its gone to the bottom and the glassies aren't audacious enough to get any before it goes into cory territory.

We've turned off the lights to get them to eat. We just have no idea how to get them to chow down.

Any suggestions because I'm worried they'll starve to death. :-(

The reason why the fish isnt eating as the tank isnt cycled.
Corys are very sensitive to water quality, have you added all them fish in the last two days.

The filter is already matured as it was second hand tank.

Cory's are fine, just the ghost/glass catfish that arent eating. Corys are eating all of their food too lil piggies! No worries about the corys, just the glass catfish.

Well you gone into a mini cycle then with adding the fish as you have a nitrite reading of 25 when it should be 0, i would preform a 20% water change and increase aeration.
Fish don't always eat for a few days due to the stress of the move, but that nitrite reading won't be helping with the glass fish.

0.25 isnt high from what I've read and is natural so I didnt think that would affect fish from what other people on here have said. I'm just going down other routes apart from water, since its only 2 of the glassfish; the others are perfectly fine and eating well.

Hi Puppyduck
Your problem is probably due to having only 3 glass catfish, they need to be in groups of 5-6. That said I have three who seem to be doing ok, I rarely see them eat but they must be getting something. I have had mine for 4 months and they are fine, they will take the occasional slow sinking pellet from the middle area of the tank especially if other fish are not around so I put food in one end and whilst the other fish get into a scrum for that slip a few little pellets in at the other end.

Thanks. I guess they might be eating whilst I'm not looking. The one, Caspar, is really confident, swims around on his own or goes back to the others when he feels like, eats with the corys. The other two were just hiding. I feed the corys first with pellets and flakes but then after I put in frozen food for the ghosties. I've heard that the ghosties will only eat food thats in a current but thats a bit of a pain since in certain bits of the tank, it jsut sinks. Any tips for getting it dead in the current to get them to eat more?

Its annoying because I need to see them eat so I know they are, but whilst they may be eating when I leave them alone with the lights off I never know whether they have or the corys have scoffed it.
