i have about 20 - 30 fry only a week old at mo
but was wondering does anyone sell theres to pet shops etc
and if so how much do you get?
or advertise them in shop windows

Yeah, it depends on what kind of fish you have. For example, I get $2 a fish for my Variatus Platies, but they won't give me anything for Guppies. IF they'll even take them.

$2 a fish! Thats pretty good. I get .75c a platy baby, and $1.00 a guppy baby.

It depends on numerous factors, and thats if the petshops will take them in or you can find places to advertise them, like;
a. How old/large are they? No one is going to buy or even take in fry at just a week old simply because they are so fragile at that stage and its imposible to tell what exact colors they'll be or the rough size they'll reach- most people will only take livebearers in when they are at least half grown.
b. Are they any particular pedigree? Pure bred livebearers sell more than mutts/cross breds when it comes down to it.
c. What type of livebearer are they? Guppys are by far the cheapest of livebearers, with platys coming in second and swordtails are usually 3rd or 4th depending on how available/rare their particular strain is locally.

Most people take their livebearer offspring in at lfs(local fish store), some people may get some money for them or may be able to trade them in for somthing, but most lfs's only take in livebearers from customers in for free due to various insurance reasons. But you should make sure the lfs will take in the fry before you plan on raising every single fry otherwise you could end up with a very overstocked tank given how quickly some livebearers can reproduce and the large numbers of offspring they can have in one go ;) .

If you feel you are unlikely to be able to rehome all of your fry in the situation that every one survives, there are various methods of raising or humanely euthanising them to cut down on their numbers to help prevent your tank becomming overstocked or getting inbreeding related issues in the particular livebearer species population/s :thumbs: .
