I was just forward planning about selling bettas on ebay, or maybe at the local shop. I know how to go about selling ot the shop but I'm stuck about selling on ebay.

All I really need to know is, when the buyer wins the bid, do they pay the money into your bank account and then you send the fish?

what I really need to know is, do you send the fish yourself? or does someone collect them? do you send them through special livestock delivery? and roughly how much does it cost? :D

thanks if anyone can help me! :D

id be suprised if ur lfs buy them off u

u can post fish via royal mail special del for about 8quid i think, some people use private couriers tho

Hi

You may be lucky with an lfs. We have one 5 mins away that will take 40 at a time from us so its worth approaching them. If its a national chain, i.e. Maidenhead, Bow etc..., they probably wont as they are contracted to their suppliers.

Ebay - Selling the odd few fish on ebay is easy, but if you end up with 150 fry that might pose a problem? Especially if the majority are females. I would say that males sell easier. And dont forget that you wont be able to sex them till they're 3-4 months old, and then you'll have those that you cant be sure of?

With regards to posting - Some use Royal mail special delivery. Cost us £6 to post our last one plus heat pack and packaging. With Royal mail bear in mind that the parcels all go in the van just like all the others regardless of "live fish", "handle with care" etc written all over them, so you do have to package them well.
A lot of suppliers use couriers now and thats a bit more expensive, about £10. So you would have to build this in to the cost of your fish which means you may need to reduce the selling price to offset the total cost to the purchaser??
Which ever delivery option you use you must confirm with the buyer that they will be home to receive the fish and most people wont send on a friday or saturday.

Hope this helps

yes that does help thanks :D my loca shop, the one I use anyway is a small business so I think there may be a chance of taking them in. I'm not sure about the whole ebay business then, unless it was to local people and easy to deliver.

Maybe one day soon I'll start breeding, I'd quite like to :good:
