Xiphophorus maculatus Rio Usumacinta,
State of Tabasco, Mexico, July 2024
Coll.: Stan de Jong
These first offspring of these platies grew up bigger than their parents. They're also bigger than the all the ones I've caught last year of which the older specimens were put back into the water by me. For I only brought back young specimens. There are two phenotypes. One that is just speckled and one that is speckled with vertical bars on both sides of the body. These last ones seem more the dominant types. They're grey based but once an adult, a blue shine can be shown. Per individual specimen, the intensity of the blue shine is more or less.
