Why would a couple of bottom feeders, one pleco, one cat, die in a tank of more delecate tropicals that are getting along just fine? Both deceased fish ere 6-7 years old.

Could be desease;
How many gallons does the tank they are in hold?
How many fish are in it and what types and individual numbers?
What are your water stats i.e nitrates, nitrites and ammonia?
Did the fish show any unusual symtoms before dying or strange behavior?

I would go with old age as well, maybe do a few water changes.

Have you by any chance added salt to the water recently. I killed some corey cats once by putting them in water that had about a tsp. salt per gallon. I'm guessing , cause they were the only thing that died. I know they weren't chilled , and thats all I can think of that would have killed them and not the killies.
Six or seven years aint bad though.
