Seeding A New Tank

Just wondering

I have a tank cycling at the moment and i have an already cycled tank upstairs which uses an under-gravel filter.
Is there anyway I can seed my sponge in the new tank with something from the under-gravel filter?

I just wonder as they are both so different

Gravel in a stocking or a pouch of some sort, in the filter, next to the sponge should do it.. it won't be as effective as seeding with another sponge, but should help.
