So here in Canada, I am looking at a beautiful sunny cool day, which will very soon lead to beautiful warmer days. The seasonal change affects my hobby, as with very little effort I'll soon be able to culture live foods for my fish outdoors.
I'm also starting to network to buy killifish eggs, so I can try a couple of new species this year. Plant shopping will follow.

Since we are so international, what changes do you see in your practices when the seasons change? Is your set up separate from the outside world, or is it affected by the changing environment?

Makes no difference what season it is to my aquarium and how I maintain it....apart from doubling the heaters in the winter months and turning them off it things get heatwave like in summer months when required

However, with the weather being thoroughly stupid at the moment...20 degrees warm sunny last week and snow with a minus 9 windchill this week....the fish seem to be having a better time of it than I am cos they are constantly warm and cosy regardless of the temperature misbehaviour

With the spring season we have right now, I'm already focusing on the outdoor season for my livebearers and culturing live food in my backyard again. I always get very excited to work on that part of the hobby.

Over here in Holland it's the same way. I've been wearing shorts and t-shirts the past two weeks and since a couple of days, it seemed like winter. And today it looks like fall. And still cold for this time of year. The seasons are messed up...

As far as fishkeeping goes, spring/summer does have an effect where I live.

As the temperature warms up here, heaters in my tanks are not required...with temps in the 90s F outside, my indoor temp (with A/C running) stays around 74-76F, which suits all of my fish just fine.

The bigger concern is my tap temp, for doing WC's....in mid-summer, my "cold" tap temp can reach 86-88F...much too warm for doing WCs safely...so, I save a handful of empty milk/juice cartons, fill them with tap water, and freeze them...then float the cartons in my tanks as I fill them

The bigger the tank, the more/larger frozen cartons I have to float, to maintain a safe tank temp for my fish
