Seasonal Buying Of Fish?

my lfs doesn't have any pim pictus in stock at present (i'm UK based.) is there only a certain time of year this fish will be available in the UK?

Pictus cats should be in the shops around now as the South American season is in full swing, prehaps you should try looking in some other shops.

But to answer your question yes there are seasons when fish are collected from the wild. Fish can only be safely collected during the dry season when the rivers are lower and less dangerous, in my experience South Americans usually start to come in around October/November and West Africans a few weeks before them.
