okay like 10 years ago when i went to florida i collected like 300 sea shells on the beach i just recently found them and put some in my tank will this be bad for my tank because they come from saltwater... I washed them really good b4 i put em in

Defo Boil them, I have added several shells etc but all Boiled before putting them in the tank.

They not only look good but will give some of the litle fellows somewhere to hide and investigate

The shells will slowly breakdown [ continually] and cause the water to become harder and raise the ph .

If you have fish that would be well suited to the water conditions the shells will cause , go for it , if not , just add a couple [ or none at all ]and be sure to keep up on water changes.

I've got seashells in mine without boiling them. Had them in there for 6+ months. Not very big ones, but quite a few little ones. Course, my pH is already pretty high at 8.3...
