I am so stoked! I had to go to Petsmart to buy supplies for our office rats, and decided to take some extra time and check out the fish. A few weeks ago they had a huge shipment of female bettas in, and in the midst of all of them I noticed a little red dt that caught my eye. I couldn't get her that day, but promised if she was still there when I came next, I would try to get her.
Well today, I checked it out. I looked and looked for the little red dt, but couldn't find her exactly. Just then, my eye catches a little non-descript black and white marble dt female! She is sooooo teeeny tiny! I couldn't resist, I got her!
She is acclimatizing to the water and temp in my office at the moment, and is sooooo small it's not funny. She is soooo cute!!
Incidentally l.michelle, if you see this, they had a few more dt females and ct females mixed in with that tank, all for the low price of 3.99. AND, Big Al's has some black females in! I was so tempted to get another but 2 fish at the office is pushing it as it is, and I have no room at home.

i don't know if it's age or genetics or being stunted, but yeah, sometimes they come in really really little. They're resourceful little buggers. my really tiny girl would grab a whole pellet in her mouth (well, a corner of one, anyway) and carry it around until it softened enough to be eaten.
