I have a scissor fish in with 3 guppies, 1 algae
eatter and a shrimp. Two of the guppies are very pregnant. In fact I thought one had given birth the other day. She passed a string of white poop with some pink to it. But no babies yet and she is getting pretty big. Anyway back to my question. I can't find any info on scissor fish except you can put in with other fish. I don't know how you tell the sex. It seems to be getting pretty big itself. Oh I have a baby Black Molly too. It has been fun watching her double in size the last two wks. I am new to all of this. Only had a tank for 3 wks. lost 2 betta, red velvet, silver molly, black molly. All bought in stores. Started with the silver molly dying. They had patches of white on them. I treated for ick but don't think it was that. Since then I treated the tank with medication for fungus and bacteria. The guppies seem to be fine and they were in the tank with the fish that died. Difference being I got them from a friend who has been caring for fish for yrs. Sorry I got of tract with original question. :hey:

I think he does.. How big is your tank and what kind of algue eater? SOome can get to 12 inches and largers and be very messy, or get bigger and eat small fish.

Hi T and C :)

Welcome to the forum! :hi:

I'm going to go a little off topic and ask you if you understand what cycling a tank means, since you mentioned that your tank is new. For starters, this link will explain it to you. Please read the entire thing even though what you are doing is cycling. "with fish."

This will help explain the cause underlying the deaths of your fish. This process can cause much stress to the fish which then weakens their immune systems leaving them open to catch a number of diseases. We can help you through this stage.

Do you have test kits and know what your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings are? :dunno:
