Schooling Fish - More Is Definitely Better

I've had danios in groups of 6 for years. Now that I have a 75g I moved them to the big tank and added more so there's 17 or 18 of them. Their behavior is dramatically different. They actually school together now where before they acted more individually. The are also a lot more active and playful. They chase and tumble like kittens! Fascinating.

+1. Haha! I have a shoal of 10 neons, I'm considering moving that figure up to 16-18, getting rid of my solitary Galaxy Rasbora shame, he's always seemed content swimming around doing his own thing and occasionally joining my neons.

I have a small school of Harlequins (5) and they are really neat to watch. I am thinking about getting yet another 55-75 gallon tank strictly for shoaling fish. I hear harlequins look and act even better in large groups.

I totally agree about more is better. I have got 17 Black Ruby Barbs and they dash around the tank in an arrow formation all day long. I started off with 6 and built it up in 3's, so I have been able to tell the difference. They are as happy as larry now though.

I have 14 tiger barbs and I'm going to add more, I think. They're so great to watch, playful, incredibly hungry all the time. But I'm going to wait until my cory fry grow up enough to put back in their adult tank.

I am on a project to up my numbers of chilli rasbora, simply because they're so teeny tiny they get lost otherwise! Had six but lost two to a spike when I was on holiday, so bought six more this weekend. They shoal in the weirdest, most zig-zaggy erratic way, I think it'll look awesome in my 50L with another 5 or 10 or....
