ph- is between 7.5 and 8
nitrite - less than .3
ammonia - is 0
If your nitrite levels are anything other than 0 you should do a water change to bring them as close to 0 as possible. Nitrite is very harmful even at low levels as it can affect respiration, stress fish and lower their immune system. Although he's been in the tank a while and you have a filter, it seems like your tank isn't fully cycled. I'd recommend testing the water at least once a day and doing water changes as required until the levels remain at 0. After that, just do regular water changes as Loraxchick suggested
