Is there any cure for a Ryukin who has been lying on his side for 30 days? Tried fasting, and peas and Baytril and Gel Antibiotic Tetracycline food .
In a 10 gallon hospital tank 3/4 filled with water. Good aeration and water quality.
Will eat out of my hand.
How can I cure him?

A friend of mine had a goldfish that died with similar symptoms, within a period of 2-3 weeks. She bought the medicine that day and when she got home it had already passed. I think clean, fresh water quality is essential to get your fish through this and make sure the filter in your main tank can handle the bioload.

Best of luck, hope he gets well soon.

can you post your tanks water stats (ammonia , nitrites etc)and what filtration you are using for the fish please

thanks sarah xx

what temp is the water?

keep the water around 6 inches deep and dont feed anything for three days...if it doesnt improve then it looks like theres too much air in the bladder and the only way it can be released is by a vet using a small needle to draw it out.

how long have you had the fish?

dont ever try feeding with floating food try a home made recipe.

packet of melted gelatine and add a tin of tuna, cooked rice, mushed up peas and freeze it in an ice cube tray or two then take out and defrost as needed.

if feeding that doesnt work then the swimbladder may well be infected or has somehow become deformed.
