Firstly I just want to say hello but unfortunetly I do need some advice.

I've lost a couple of fish over the last few days and both seem to have had the same symptoms.
For quite a while I had a tank with just 2 plecos in and decided after a water check that it was time to add some more..

So now I have 3 mollies and 2 Gouramis
The tank was cycled months ago when I had danios.
My cleaning regime is the usual 10% water change weekly and a full cleanout every 12 weeks approx.
Feed 3 times a day a few pinches of flakes
The 2 fish I lost seem to have got quite lethargic initially and developed pale skin patches -more noticably on their tummies which turned white.
I've now spotted a mollie starting to display the same symptoms and am becoming quite worried. It also seems to hover right by the filter most times.
I regularly check the water quality and all seems well. The temp remains at around 74-78
Sorry about the vague description!I'm a very inexperienced keeper and I need some advice on what this might be please.

Many thanks for all the help and advice you can offer
Pete

Hi There And Welcome To TTFF,

To make it easier the girls and guys will also need to know:

Tank Size: Navigating to the calculator here: http://www.fishforums.net/aquarium-calculator.htm you can input the size in inches and it will give you a size in gallons.

Also they need to know your water stats,

Nitrite
Nitrate
Ammonia
Ph

You can get these using a liquid test kit sold at any local fish shop, dont bother with the strips they are useless.

Thanks, Simo

Hi Simo and thanks for the fast reply. Its a 57 litre tank
Ok,heres the stats using a Nutrifin Mini Master kit:
NH3 Ammonia -0 mg/L
NO3 Nitrate- 5 mg/L
NO2 Nitrite- 0 mg/L
PH- 8

The mollie now seems very disorientated and is swimming 'unbalanced' so may euthanize but I'll keep an eye on it.
Forgot to mention that i'm running my filter with just a carbon pad
Appreciate the ongoing advice

Quick update guys-just lost another fish. This one even looked perfectly healthy with no visible signs of stress or disease.
Any ideas based on the stats as above?

Cheers all
Pete

I really dont know what to say sorry,

I'm not that good with all this fish health stuff, if there were some obvious symptoms i may have an idea.

Hopefully someone who knows their health stuff should come along soon,

Sorry about another loss.

Simo
