Hello Guys,
I have a 260 litre tank which has been setup for about 3 1/2 weeks now, I have an external Eheim filter.
My ammonia is very high so i have been changing 80 litres every 3 - 4 days and have used Am quael + (Not sure of spelling)
1 of my corys is flicking on the gravel, as are 2 danios every now and then. And my Leeri Gourami looks like it has Which spot.. Not sure though becuase she keeps going under the bog wood, so maybe damage.
I have a Phantom pleco who has developed a white line , (Also may be damage) But i can't tell - Not experienced enough to know the difference.
Just thinking the worst
Any advice would be appreciated as i don't want to loose any.

Thanks guys

Jo

Hi Jo

Do you have a test kit? if so could you post the exact parameters?

If you have ammonia in the tank you will need to up the water changes to at least 1 x 50% water change per day if not 2, Ammonia will eventually kill your fish if it is not removed.

ammonia burns the fish which will be causing them stress which in turn causes outbreaks of whitespot and other diseases to attack the fish whilst they are weak.

Your tank is cycling at present so it would really be best to rehome the fish as it is likely things will get worse before they get better.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, I do not have a test kit just the strips
I was thinking about re homing them into an 80 litre tank a little on the small side but water ok and stable.
If i change the water on a regular basis ie 50% once a day will this helps things along, or will it still cause problems for the fish.

Thanks for your help i really appreciate it
I am in a very worry time at the moment. I didn't realise that you could get so attached to fish

TBH we need to know the exact figures so we can see how good/bad things currently are, atm my guess is that its pretty bad as your describing whitespot and seem to have a lot of fish considering the tank is only 3.5weeks old

The strips are unreliable at the best of times, but as they are the only thing you have could you post the results you get from them as that would be better than nothing. If not could your LFS test the water for you and write down the figures which you could then post here?

provided the 80litre tank is cycled then that would be fine for the fish short term. although the ill fish would need treating

OK, taken all onboard
I will go out and get the water tested tonight, i will post results at about 6:30ish
until then
