Saw Cool Looking Fish At Lfs Today

in maidenhead today they had a tank with fish that looked similar to the dwarf neon rainbow (praecox) it was a pale blue body with red fins. im sure it was labelled as a rainbow dace but after looking this up they are a cold water fish.... has anyone got one or seen them? it was definately rainbow something and im 99% sure it was dace...
just thought i would ask as it was bugging me!!!

It sounds like one, what shape was it's body?

it was a very similar shape to a female dwarf rainbow but a little fatter, a bit like a platty ish!!!!!!!!

Melanotaenia praecox is the only true non-hybrid rainbow that has a blue body and red fins. It's possibly a hybrid between praecox and any other melanotaenia as they can (and if given the opportunity) interbreed successfully.
