Hi, yes its me again you may think me thick, I am, I admit it. But the question is whats the best way to wash the sand before putting it in the tank. I made the mistake of putting the sand direct into the tank last time.

i did ours in the garden in a dustbin with the garden hose...

took about 1 hour for the water to clear up ( i did do 2 bags at the same time though (50kg))

make sure you are washing away only the dust and not the sand and of you have a hang on back filter watch out for it to suck up sand and really make some noise.

I don't have a backayrd, so I used the huge sink in the laundry room.

I would fill my 5 gallon bucket about 1/3 with sand. Then I'd run hot water, while stiring the sand. I'd completely pour out the water, and start again. Repeat until the water runs clear.
