I opened up my 403 fluval after about two months to clean it and it has a ton of sand in it, common sense says this can't be good so does anyone ahave any idea how to stop it from going in please

how close to the sand is the intake (retorical question)
I'd recomend raising it at least another inch than you have it, whatever that maybe.

How high of the bottom of your tank is the intake tube? It might be sucking it up. When I first switched to sand, I had placed an airstone near the intake of my HOB filter, and it would float some sand up in bubbles and they would get sucked in.

Or maybe you have some daredevil fish that take a mouthfull and spit it at the intake.

3 four inches, how would i adjust it? i put a rock under directly to advoid it but the inch of sand in the bottom of my filter indicates this isn't working, thanks for the quick replies

My emperor does that same but not as bad. I tryed to stop it by raising it form the bottom and it worked somewhat. But then again my rmas love to have mout full of sand and spit it out.
