I read somewhere on here that mollies (i think that's what it was) don't like white sand. Why is this? Do fish really prefer a color of sand? Also, I read that sand is not good for rooted plants? Is this true too? Enlighten me. I am planning on doing the swap from big gravel to cheap sand. This is for my cory's and plants? benefit. Also, it just seems like it would be easier to clean.

I havent heard of that one before, but I am not an expert on mollies.
However plants will certainley be fine with sand. If rooted plants were not able to grow in sand, then this will be down to lack of nutrients, light and/ or CO2. Not just because of the sand itself,

Thanks, Aaron

I will vouch for that.

I have sasnd in my tank and have been growing plants in there with no trouble at all. In fact i will never go to gravel again.
