Sand

I have just bought a juwel 96 tank and I was wondering is it ok to use ordinary D.I.Y shop sand in the bottom of the tank if it is washed thoroughly. Any help would be appreciated.

Yup, it's what most people use. Make sure to get play sand or something similar, and nothing limestoney or that could affect the water.

I used Argos playsand - its about £2.50 for 15 kg's - much cheaper than what you will get at the LFS
