Sand

hi this has probally been posted loads before but i searched and couldnt find it anyway. So, i have a cycled tank that had fish in but i got rid of them to get new fish. At the moment ive got a gravel substrate but i want to change to sand. Can i just scoop the gravel out and put sand in or would i lose valuable bacteria. If so is there another way to switch? thanks alot

Lol, he's not exaggerating, took a long as* time to get all the answers but Dave is deffinatly the person to clear up this issue if he doesnt know then no one will! haha, good luck
