i tried in the cory section cuz i was talking about my cory tank, but those people dont seem to be on..

so i want sand for my tank, and people are saying play sand is the best, but i cant find any :| hard to believe, but anyway i was wondering if coloured sand from like a craft store would be healthy?

LFS only has marine sand and gravel, and reptile sand, but that has calcium.. which wont do. except one brand said it had no chemicals and was all natural, would that work?

idk i need help!

Home Depot and Totem have the Target playsand for $5.77 per 55lbs. bag. (Calgary prices) I bought 3 bags, enough for 1 90 gallon, 2 10 gallons, and a 26 gallon. The sand is fairly deep in all the tanks, and I still have some left over! It also didn't need too much rinsing. Don't forget you may need to adjust your filter intakes so that they are at least 4-6 inches from the sand.

well, i only need sand for one 10 gall.. thats like a pound of sand or two lol. and does play sand come in different colours? i dont want icky brown

To my knowledge, playsand only comes in "icky brown". What colour would you like? I know you can get natural sand in black or white, although if may affect your pH........ however if you're looking for blue, then I have no suggestions.

Sorry, this is totally off topic... Yaay Calgary!

Pool supply shop should carry it, but you really do want to check and make sure that it's the untreated kind to avoid any nasty chemicals. Sorry, I can't recommend a brand.

Check your local hardware store for play sand. It is typically manufactured locally, so the color will vary depending on what part of the country you're in. You may be lucky and the color is what you're looking for. It is also dirt cheap.

Pool filter sand is also decent. Pool supply companies sell it. You'l probably have to ask since it's usually kept in back.

we are going to one of the bigger fish stores today to look at fishies, there is also a pool place nearby so we might check that out too.

thanks for your help guys :)

What about aquarium sand? It may be a bit more expensive but it would be much safer. I didn't want to put my fish in jeopardy so I bought aquarium sand.
