I was wondering is sand expensive to buy? is it alot of hassle having sand in your tank? i am considering changing from gravel to sand but i am unsure.

Pool Filter Sand is approximately $10 for 50 pounds. Aquarium gravel is often $10 for a 2 pound bag.

As to the hassle, it's not hard to clean up. You don't have to dig in the sand with the siphon and just hover over it instead.

Play sand from Argos. £2.49 for 15kg. http/www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3650189.htm Just make sure you wash it really well. Pop it in a bucket and keep rinsing til the water runs clear.
