Sand ?

Im about to clean my sand to put into my new tank but im unsure how to clean it , some say wash it over and over again in a bucket emptying water out everytime you rinse until water runs clear or i'v heard to use a pillow case but wouldnt this contaminate the sand with soap powder residue ? please help

I just rinsed between 3 and 5 handfulls at a time in a bucket and kept rinsing it until the water ran completely clear. I found it easier to wash than some of the gravel I have used in the past. Just keep rinsing it and even when you fill the tank, it will be a little cloudy. I used some fine filter wool to polish the water.

put some sand into a bucket, then using an outside tap, let the water run over it, the heavy sand wont move, but the particles will overflow over the sides, pour into the tank, then repeat with more sand
