Sand!

Ive put an inch of sand over my gravel last week, are any fish uncomfertable in sand? My neons gills have appeared slightly pink this morning! Also, how do I get rid of fish waste on the bottom? could I do this by usingIm used to using a gravel cleaner!

Dont think there are any fish that dont like sand, there are some that dont like gravel, like corys, but sand should be ok for fish. It shouldn't affect the neons.

To get rid of the waste, I use a piece of tubing and just wave my hand over the sand and that lifts the waste off, which I can then just hoover up

I hate to say it but the sand and gravel will mix eventually as well.

As long as the sand you put in is non-toxic, then i wouldn't worry about it being the sand that has affected your neon....
