How do you clean it, or is there no need to?

You've got to be careful not to put your gravel vac to close to the sand so you don't suck it up.

The best way is to do a little circular motion an inch or two above the sand to unsettle the particles that you want to remove. They are lighter than the sand and will start to float up and then you can suck them up with the gravel vac

The above is what I do.... I recomend the Python water changer hose, it has truly changed my life (cheesy... but true!)
