I am setting up a 60 gallon Saltwater with fish and live rock. I want to use sand as my substrate and was curious to know if I can just go to home depot and buy sand there or if I have to buy any special type?

You can use any type of sand but an agronite sand will help buffer the PH and IMO it is worth the extra money. You can usually pick it up for $1 a pound. I usually get 2/3 agronite sand and 1/3 live sand to seed it with.

Agree...aragonite...helps stabilize and buffer your system. SH

You can use normal sand but when there are other options that will help your tank its better to go with those. I use crushed coral and crushed marble. Both will buffer your PH.
