Sand substrate question

I got a few questions on sand substrates,

can it be used with plants? do I need to use flourite, root tabs, etc with them? how do I add the sand? what kind of sand? maintenance?

any other help would do

awsome! thanks alot, but another question, when it says "play sand" u mean the sand I can get for the sand box? is that what u mean by "play sand"?

yes that is what is ment by "play sand"

Yep that's the stuff... looks great in teh tank after THOROUGH rinsing. It shows the poo much quicker but cleans up easily. At $3 for 50 lbs. you can't beat it. Any home inprovement or Wal-Mart store should have it. I used it till I decided I liked the small-grain gravel better called "Texas Grit" .
