Sand is much better for fish like corys, khuli and clown loachs and other similar fish as it doesn't damage their barbs and it allows them to go about their buisness of filtering through it much better

AARRRHHHH ----- I prefer people using the search...

Although it has actually been about 4 weeks since the last sand / gravel poll - so I'll answer it :)

Sand - Our fish prefer it and when its clean it looks great :)

Gravel, dark gravel, that way the poo isnt as obvious.

Sand is by far the better way to go.
1) It really isn't that difficult to keep clean
2) The fish love it
3) It's best for bottom dwellers by far
4) It looks lovely

Need any more reasons ? ;)

Ok, well my tank is only a few weeks old, so a bit silly to change right now, perhaps in a few months I will change to sand.

Fine gravel wont hurt clown loaches too much will it? it is very fine

Fine gravel, im going to change to sand eventualy but time and money are against me.

Id also like to know if clown loaches are ok with fine gravel?

I don't know how much sand is across the pond, but I was able to get 2 50 lb/22 kg of swimming pool filter sand for $15 CAD or £6.
