ok, so i am moving my planted tank down stairs, and i want to change the substrate to sand
and flourite
is this a good idea?
i thought plants grow better in sand than laarge pea gravel.
it is also for discus,
and maybe if i get rams someday.

they dont grow better in one substrate than another, it is about the nutrient content, so the flourite will help compared to inert gravel.

it is messy though, when disturbed.

As long as you dose the water column sufficiently, you can really have whatever substrate rocks your boat. I tend to use inert ones and dose what I need through the water column. When I worked with flourite, I couldn't stand it, it never cleared up. I lost patience and got rid of it.

oh , well the reaso i want to get sand is i want to
mix it with the flourite because i feel
it looks sharp, and also i hate how the fish feces settles
into the large pea gravel so fast.
i think i will be able to see the poop better,
and be able to vacumm it off easier, and especially since im getting
discus

i figured this was the oppurtune time because im moveing the
tank downstairs and need to take the gravel out because the tank is to
heavy.
