I'm so happy with this new setup. I have been wanting to fix this tank up for about a year. Finally, I have a job so I can spend my paycheck on my fishies. Heres the one gallon tank with its newest inhabitant, Gill the one-eyed betta.

Heres how it looked a few hours ago:

I think its a big improvement, don't you think?

I would think so. I have one of those GE reveal light bulbs. It has full-spectrum light, uses 40 watts and puts out 370 lumens of light. Plus, the light is positioned directly above the tank and I keep it on for about 10-12 hours a day.

If it's incandescent it probably won't do the job as well as fluorescent. Fluorescent is something like 4 times stronger then incandescent.

i would just like to inform you that you have hydras :shout:
(at least i think so)
im battling these SOB's right now and i cant stand them!
other than that nice tank! inspired me to set up my other 1.5 cube

Nice looking betta! The tank looks great also. How big is it and what is that thing on the top (the cover)??

The tank is small, only one gallon. I know a betta should really have a 2.5 gallon tank. At the moment, I'm running out of room so this one gallon will have to do for now. The tank is a 1 gallon minibow. I prefer the natural look so I didn't use the blue flimsy plastic tank stand or hood. Covering the tank is a betta divider from my minibow 2.5 gallon. It came with the tank and fits perfectly over my 1 gallon. Plus, it enables air to pass through and for the light to shine on the plants.

Are you talking about the little dots on the tank? I've had minibows before, and those are most likely air bubbles that attach themselves to the side of the tank. Mine always did that. :)

Either that or a little bit of spot algae.

yeah i think those were just bubbles, since those pictures were from yesterday when i set the tank up. I had completely washed it out before I set it up. Gill is very happy, he's starting to make a bubble nest under some floating bits of plants.

Overall, I have a total of 8 tanks in my room ranging from small betta tanks to two 10 gallon tanks next to my tv. My room is really small too, so whenever people walk into my room they always notice all the tanks first.

That's a lot of fish tanks for your bedroom! I only have 2 LOL. What other fish do you have?

Not too much. I have 4 bettas, 40-60 guppy/platy fry, 16 guppies, 2 dwarf platy, 1 guppy/endler mix, 1 sparkling gourami, 2 leopard cory and 2 pygmy cory. Once I get more money, I'm hoping to get more corys since they enjoy being in large groups.
