I recently purchased a 28 gallon garbage pail for my friend and I to have a large well aged saltwater resivour (sp?). I have a single maxijet 600 in it for circulation, do I also need to heat it? or is room temperature sufficient?

It depends on how warm your room is.

I never heat my water. I just leave it to sit for a while at room temperature. It will only ever be about 6 degrees cooler than my tank water.

Ignoring other heating elements and assuming all the new water hits the tank at the same time, a 10% water change with the water going in being 20 degrees C and the tank being 26 degrees will lower the tank by 0.6 degrees C. No problems there. If you are really worried let the water trickle in over a time.

I guess that means you have to pitch the salinity at a different level then when you mix it Andy?
