Are they easier to mantain than norrmal tropical fish?

Thanks

quite the opposite im afraid. while the fish themselves are not hard to keep, sw tanks in general require a little more maintenance because of all the things you need to run it

Is it ok to keep saltwater fish in a biorb?

I have answered this question on your other thread :good:

You need to go and do a lot of reading, it is possible to jump straight into the salty side without doing tropicals first, my sister has done it - but she has done it with a lot of help from people on here and a little bit from me (and when i say a little bit, i really do mean a little bit ).

You have to read and then read some more and then read again  ask lots of questions and expect answers to your questions that you might not like but will really help!

Half the fun of a new tank is the prep - and on the salty side prep is very important :good: Go and jump into the nano section and enjoy reading all the threads

I'm under the impression that they are hard initially as with anything new. Once they are set up and everything's running good, then it's about the same as a freshwater. Scraping the algae, doing water changes, observing occupants, changing any media (such as rowaphos) occassionally, feeding them, etc.

having been a keeper of freshwater fish for many years i would say that saltwater fish aren't harder to keep.

But saltwater is much more disciplined than freshwater.

Routines must be kept up or the tank may crash. and crash fast.

If you aren't able to devote a couple of hours a week to tank husbandry then don't get into the hobby.

Plus you'll need a wallet made of elastic because everytime you think you have completed your purchases you see another bit of coral that would look nice.

IME thats very unrealistic. He's only talking about fish. You feed then, top off with freshwater, scrape away algae (magfloat) and do a water change every other week. I don't see how all of that could take more than an hour.
