:D Hiya well i hope you will put your input in this one for me , i have just read a post stating that salt will kill Tetra's. I must admit that i have never heard of this before, i agree to much could kill if not given in moderation. I agree that salt cannot be used with certain types of fish Catfish or Scaleless fish are just a couple of examples.
When used in moderation 1 tesp of aquaruim salt to 1 gallon of water, i have found that i might add have read on various forums that it has helped the sick fish to over come it's ailment. Given in conjunction with other meds i feel in my own opinion that it definetly can help fight the infection and heal.
So what's your opinion folks?

Best wishes Shanna

I use to use it regularly but now I use it only as a disease prevention. I have also heard that tetras do not like salt but I am not sure y.

Well i have never actually used it.

The last problem i had in a fish was hole in the head with one of my gouramis a month ago. And before that, white spot on clown loaches last yr sumtime.

Does it effect plants anyone?

Salt can be used sparingly as a temporary measure to help the healing process for sick or damaged fish and aid respiration during nitrite spikes, it should not be added as a routine measure to freshwater tanks as long term exposure to salt will lead to kidney failure in freshwater fish.

:D I fully agree that used sparingly during the sickness of fish is fine but i dont use it any other time.
