Hi,

I've heard that mollies prefer having a little salt in their tank (1 teaspoon per gallon). What are people's views on this? Also, does the same go for guppies and mollies too?

Cheers,

Gra

well people will probably go back n forth on this lol but with the constant captiv breeding of mollys in fresh water salt is not needed. and guppys dont need it at all. i myself put a teaspoon per 5g to keep my fish calm and help fight off any kind of fungus that might make its way to my tank. :p

It also depends upon where you get the fish. My lfs does not use salt with any of there mollies and they are fine. Petco uses salt, so it's a matter of opinion. I use salt in my tank as guppydude said, to keep away fungus.
