Salt With Cichlids

i am new to the cichlids should i use aquarium salt in with them .... or are they striclty freshwater???

Strictly freshwater.

As are most freshwater fish . IMO you shouldn't be using aquarium salt for anything except maybe in emergencies to treat things, using it with things like tetras, corydoras, rasboras, danios and others could have a negative effect long term.

You can use aquarium salt with your cichlids. I believe it shouldn't be used w/scaless fish (catfish, eels, etc.).
