Salt Bath

Ive heard of salt baths for treating ich and various other ailments, just not sure how to do one. Can anyone help?

it depends on the type of fish infected. some fish tolerate it and some dont. i have used it at a 1.5% dosage *per uk gallon* as a bath for fungus and to get rid of ich on the fish. i do it for 10 minutes then return to the tank, and i do it for 3 consecutive days.
other people use salt in different ways and some people not at all. its down to personal choice.

The only fish I keep that I would give a salt bath to are my platies, and I think they can tolerate quite a bit of salt.

Hmm for any maths buffs, in US gallons, how much salt would I need to add to get a 1.5% concentration (if that's ideal for platies)?
