Just wondering how to do a salt bath for parasites on guppies.

e.g. how many teaspoons per a UK gallon or litres. For how long etc

Thank you

Also i heard you could use table salt as long as it doesn't contain any caking agents or additives?

i dont know about how long (i have a feeling its 1 tablespoon per gallon) but definately CANNOT use table salt as it contains iodine.

1 tablespoon for 5 us gallons, or 1 teaspoon for 1 us gallon so that would be about 3/4 teaspoon for UK gallon, 4 teaspoon for 5 gallon....approx.

Make sure you are using freshwater marine salt....NOT table salt

Salt baths will work on many fish, chuck a goldfish from an outdoor pond into one and you can literally watch the parasites crawling out from them. its like pouring washing up liquid water onto your grass, give it 5 mintues and there will be loads of earth worms on the surface trying to escape. Its quite disgusting :\ Gotta be careful though, you can easily knock your fish off if you get the dosage wrong.
