Could someone explain to me how exactly to do the salt and temperature method for getting rid of iche. I have been using king british white spot control for about a month with no effect. I have a 110l tank with corys and loachs and am desperate to get rid of iche before i lose anymore fish!

Corys and loaches do not like salt! I have heard of people using it to treat ich in scaleless fish at half dose, but I never had much luck with it in scaleless fish. That is the method I use, but I don't have scaleless fish, yet. I use 1 tbls per 5 gallons of water and up the temp to 80 - 85F. I wouldn't use the salt at that strenght, but maybe at half it will be ok.

I've moved all fish concerned into another tank, its taking to long to clear the ich and i can't risk losing anymore fish. I've heard that if i cycle the tank with no fish in it then the ich will eventually die off. As for the already infected fish they seem to have improved slightly, but not much. What kind of salt should i use? (only if i have no other choice)

i really dont recommend salt with them.
i used Protozin by Waterlife...its very good stuff, along side bumping the temp up to 30 deg x

Thanks for that Hazyh, i've just googled Protozin and it looks promising. Never really wanted to use salt but i'm at my wits end with this parasite. Did you get this protozin in your local pet shop or would i need to go to a big retailer eg. Pets at home?

If you definitely have ich in your main tank then all your fish need to be treated, seperating fish into different tanks is likely to just spread the disease aongst all tanks concerned.

Protozin, 30C, heavy rippling of water surface to keep water oxygenated (even if that means simply dropping the water level).

I never had an iche problem until i bought a bigger second hand tank, not knowing the risks i did not disinfect the bigger tank. I've since moved all fish from the bigger tank back into their original tank and disinfected the bigger tank. I have left the bigger tank cycling with no fish as i have heard that the parasite cannot survive more than 10 days if there are no fish for it to feed on. Lesson learned, always disinfect new gear!
