a young male salousi of mine has an injury to his side.it appears the scales are missing there and the area is swolen.im treating with melafix, but will that be enough or should i do more or get something else.he seems fine
If you can't isolate him in a QT/hospital tank, just keep up with the melafix, and keep the water clean. Cichlids heal well and quickly which is a good thing since they can be so aggressive. My alpha male m.callainos recently got in a fight with the beta male, both lost several scales and got fat lips, but they're fine now. I just kept up on water changes, I'm sure your salousi will be fine.
